Maximize your charitable impact:
COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic on March 11, 2020. SARS-CoV-2 is a new SARS-related coronavirus that causes COVID-19, a pneumonia-type disease that was first detected in China’s central province of Hubei this past December. The disease has spread exponentially and has created a global health crisis and emergency.
Schwab Charitable offers donors a variety of options to direct their support to those impacted by this pandemic. Donors may maximize their charitable impact by using their donor-advised funds to recommend grants for immediate and ongoing support to charities of their choice.
For the fastest grant processing, we encourage you to submit your recommendation online by logging into your Schwab Charitable account and designating your grant for “Coronavirus Relief and Response” from the dropdown menu under the “Purpose of Grant” section.
To direct support locally, donors may wish to consider recommending a grant to their local community foundation. The Council on Foundations provides a search tool which will help identify the appropriate community foundations. Community foundations have invaluable knowledge and resources to help donors maximize the impact of their support in local communities affected by the spread of COVID-19. Donors may also access a tool which will help them identify COVID-19 funds for specific geographic locations.
To help with relief efforts on a national or global scale, Schwab Charitable collaborates with the Center for Disaster Philanthropy for a list of recommended charities supporting COVID-19 response, relief, and recovery efforts. We also have a variety of tools and resources that can help you explore charities here.
